The Ventures Get the Vote

It's been a long time coming. Three years ago Mark Christopher lead the fight to get The Ventures a nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. To date, Jimi Hendrix has been the only Northwest artist inducted.

The New B97-3 is proud to announce that The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will induct The Ventures into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in  2008.

The Ventures are known for such hit's as "Walk Don't Run," "Hawaii Five O' Theme," and have performed back up for numerous bands including The Monkees. They've appeared a handful of times on American Bandstand, provided music for movies like Pulp Fiction, Shrek and many more! Their style and ways has influenced countless guitar players including members of Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, The Kinks, Alabama, Heart and more.

With over 3000 recorded songs, 240 CD's, 110 million copies sold in 40 plus years.... Don Wilson, Bob Bogle and Nokie Edwards, Leon Taylor, Gerry McGee, the late Mel Taylor and the late Howie Johnson are more then deserving of this award.

On behalf of the staff at The New B97-3, congratulations to The Ventures!

Stay tuned for more updates on this amazing achievement.
